Lorrie Agnes Sharkey

(April 25, 1955 - July 11, 2019)

Lorrie Agnes Sharkey of Camrose passed away on Thursday, July 11th, 2019 at the age of 64 years.

Lorrie was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, Alberta on April 25, 1955 to her parents Cecil and Shirley Stensrud. Lorrie grew up in Ryley, Alberta and was the oldest of six girls. Growing up Lorrie enjoyed helping her Dad on the family farm. She loved animals, nature, baseball, trips to Mexico and spending time with her sisters. Lorrie also had a passion for birds and was lovingly referred to by her family as a “Bird Nerd”.

Lorrie met her soul mate Garland Sharkey at the local Paul’s store near the family farm and were married on March 5, 1977. They had three children Ryan, Jason and Lindsay. Together they enjoyed many years of adventures, family road trips, and camping. Garland and Lorrie’s dream came true in 1996 when they took over the Sharkey Family Farm. Garland passed suddenly in June of 1998, Lorrie continued to raise their family on the farm. She enjoyed her many flowers, giving extra care to her lilies, horses, dogs, cats, chickens etc. She loved her simple life on the farm, and this was where she was happiest. She enjoyed many adventures with her grandchildren Eliese, Mackenzie, Kailey & Kylar. They all shared a special place in her heart and were the light in her eyes. Lorrie was an amazing mother-in-law to Cherilyn and Matt. Family always came first, she has many nieces and nephews and enjoyed all the time she spent with them. Lorrie’s passion of helping others was carried out in her thirty-plus years at the Camrose Association For Community Living. Lorrie and her friend Christine started Plan It Consulting a successful business with helping elderly families. She holds a special place in all of our hearts and will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Ryan Sharkey (Lacie Marion) of Edmonton, Jason (Cherilyn) Sharkey of Camrose, and Lindsay (Matt) Wonnacott of Camrose; four grandchildren Eliese (Nathan) Thompson, Mackenzie (Cody) Martin, Kailey & Kylar Sharkey; mother Shirley Stensrud; mother-in-law Irene Sharkey; and siblings Colleen (Wade) Magneson of Edson, Sheila (Stan) Helgeland of Camrose, Susie (Lionel) Williams of Tofield, Tweet (Marlon) Lindberg of Cold Lake, Loverna (Ron) Epp of Tofield and brother-in-law Darryl Sharkey of Camrose.
