Melvil James McKibbon

(October 29, 1936 - May 20, 2019)

Melvil James McKibbon was born in Lacombe on October 29, 1936 to Johnston and Edna McKibbon.  He was the second child in a family of five children.  Melvil passed away peacefully on May 20, 2019, in Louise Jensen Care Centre.

Melvil’s early years were spent on a farm in the Wolfville district west of Ponoka.  In 1962 his Mom and Dad sold their farm and bought a small farm at the edge of Beachburg, Ontario.  Melvil went with them.  He worked for various farmers during busy seasons.

When his dad passed away at the age of 65, Melvil moved west with his mom and settled in Camrose.  He would ride out to the farms on his moped and work for Alan and Claire, as well as other neighbours during haying season.  In his spare time, Melvil built cattle feeders and picnic tables.

In the fall of 2012, Melvil sold his house and moved to Louise Jensen Care Centre.

Melvil was predeceased by his sisters Denice (Laurel), Stella, and Dorothy; and brother-in-law Glen McTavish.  Left to cherish his memory are his sister Claire (Alan), and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, with Rev. David Ericksson officiating. Interment has taken place in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Melvil's memory may be made to CNIB, the Louise Jensen Care Centre, or to the Bethlehem Cemetery Association.
