Melva Marie Anabella Jornlin

(January 22, 1920 - February 19, 2019)

Melva Marie Anabella Jornlin of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the age of 99 years.

Melva was born January 22, 1920 in Deville, Alberta. She attended school in Uncas and Dinant. She met and married Torger. They lived in Dinant and raised their children Arlene, Allen, and Ardith, and then they sold the farm and moved to Camrose.
 Later Melva married Raymond and joined the Scandia Lutheran Church in Armena. She worked in Camrose at the Saan and Lawrence stores as a cashier. Melva enjoyed doing handcrafts, reading, crossword puzzles, holidaying and camping. She was an auxiliary member of the Legion and liked playing darts and she won many trophies.  Melva also enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family celebrated five generations with Melva, Melva’s daughter Ardith Weiss (nee Rosland), Ardith’s daughter Sharleen Savage, Sharleen’s daughter Jessica Savage, and Jessica’s son Koda.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Arlene (Carl) Staal of Camrose, Allen (Lorraine) Rosland of Camrose, and Ardith (Philip) Weiss of Tofield; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sister Joyce (Dave) Oake of Ardrossan; sister-in-law Verneal Hillman of Fort Saskatchewan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 Melva was predeceased by her first husband Torger; her second husband Ray; grandson Shane; parents Walter and Margarite Hillman; stepmother Peggy; brother Harry; brother Albert and Albert’s wife Mary.
  

A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 28, 2019, from the Scandia Lutheran Church, Armena with Rev. Charlotte Strecker-Baseler officiating.
