Patricia Loesch

(June 14, 1936 - January 26, 2019)

Patricia Christine was born to John and Marie Niehaus at Strome, Alberta on June 14, 1936 and passed away peacefully at the Daysland hospital on January 26, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer with her family by her side.

Patricia married Dennis Loesch on July 4, 1956 and together they were blessed with eight children; Karen, Kathy (Bill) McLennan, David, Betty (Darrell) Laidlaw, Audrey (Doug) Buchholz, Robert, Jeffrey (Krista), Leslie (Dale) Heck.  They were also blessed with fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Patricia will be remembered for her fierce love of her husband Dennis, her family and her faith.

Dennis and Patricia raised their family while farming for forty-five years, she worked hard as a farmwife and mother, she had a creative soul and had a vast array of talents; she loved gardening, cooking, sewing, crocheting, volunteering in the community and church and sharing her love of music. Her passion for music began as a child while playing piano accompanied by her father on the violin, who insisted she learn to play by ear.  As a young adult she spent many a Saturday night playing in a band called the Rhythm Rascals, she played with the band on and off well into her married life.  For years she played piano and organ in church, and more recently at Providence Place, Daysland Sunbeam Center, the hospital and her greatest joy - sing songs with her family.
Patricia devoted 25 years as Our Lady of the Prairies Church Sacristan, this was a labour of love which she took great pride in; preparing the altars and watering the plants as if they were her own.  She always said this ministry strengthened her faith because this was where she did her best praying.
Patricia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend; she will be greatly missed by everyone’s lives she touched.
Patricia faced her cancer journey with courage and hope, we will remember her grace, beautiful smile and bright blue eyes right up until the time our Lord and Savior called her safely home.

We wish to thank everyone for the comfort, support and acts of kindness shown to our family during this sad time.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband Dennis; children Karen Loesch of Camrose, Kathy (Bill) McLennan of Killam, David of Bawlf, Betty (Darrell) Laidlaw of Lethbridge, Audrey (Doug) Buchholz of Galahad, Robert of Calgary, Jeff (Krista) of Strathmore, and Leslie (Dale) Heck of Daysland; fourteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; siblings Genevieve Frochler, Dorothy (Melvin) Orr, Michael (Donna) Niehaus, Phyllis (Leander) Kroetsch; and sisters-in-law Eileen (Aksel) Birkjar, Pat Niehaus, Joan (Stan) Erickson, and Eileen Loesch.
