Morris James Candlish

(March 16, 1939 - December 22, 2018)

 

Morris James Candlish of Daysland, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the age of 79 years.

 

Morris was born on March 16, 1939 in the Daysland Hospital.  He grew up in Daysland and moved to Calgary to attend SAIT where he took a surveying course.  He worked for Shell Oil until 1971 surveying from Saskatchewan to the North West Territories eventually becoming a Senior Scout. After resigning from Shell, Morris worked for the Surface Rights Board of the provincial government negotiating minerals rights for farmers across Alberta. In 1967 Morris married Jackie.  They moved to the family homestead north of Daysland in 1973 where he farmed and raised his family.  


He will be greatly missed by Jackie, his loving wife of 51 years; his daughter Christie (Chris) Tucker; son James (Crystal); grandchildren Jamie, Jaylyn, Grayson, Wyatt; his sister Jane (Orville) Wright and nieces Ivy (Cam) Gibson and Tammy (Vaughn) Beakhouse; as well as numerous relatives and friends.  
Morris was predeceased by his father and mother James and Cecile Candlish and sister Elsie Candlish.

 

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018 from the Our Lady of the Prairies Roman Catholic Church, Daysland with Rev. Deanna Cox officiating.
