Valerie Rucki of Camrose, Alberta, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at the age of 63 years.

Valerie Anne Johnson was born on November 6, 1955 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.  She was the third of four children born to Orma and Earl Johnson.  Valerie’s early years were spent on the family farm near Mawer, Saskatchewan. The family moved to Eskbank, Saskatchewan.  Valerie attended elementary school Brownlee, Saskatchewan.  In 1964 the family moved to Calgary, where she continued to attend school.  Val’s parents moved the family to Youngstown, Alberta.  Valerie attended school in Youngstown until 1971 when she left school after Grade 10. Val started working for Special Areas as a cook.  
On July 30, 1973 Valerie gave birth to Juanita, in Brooks, Alberta. Soon after Valerie and Juanita moved to Camrose, where she continued to work as a cook while raising Juanita.  
In 1978 Valerie met John Rucki, they dated until when they got married August 14, 1982 in Camrose.   Val, John and Juanita continued to reside in Camrose. Val worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose as a Dietary Aide from 1978, until she retired.   
Val became a grandmother for the first time in 1995 - Tyler, 1997 - Logan, 1999 - Nicole and 2007- Jenna. Over the years Val enjoyed spending time and helping out taking care of her grandchildren, watching the boys playing hockey, the girls in dance festivals, spending holidays together.   Val became a great-grandmother in 2014 and more great-grandchildren were soon to follow.  
Val and John enjoyed many trips throughout their years, camping in the interior of BC, travelling through the United States down to Texas, as well as travelling to Poland where John was born.  For a number of years, Val enjoyed going to BVJ and listening to the country music. 
Left to cherish her memory are her husband John; daughter Juanita (Leonard) Henuset of Cold Lake; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; siblings Linda (Vern) Kovac of Round Hill, Vivian (Walter) Allert of Lethbridge, and Kenneth (Marilyn) Johnson of Youngstown; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Valerie was predeceased by her parents Earl and Orma Johnson and grandson Tyler Winegarden.  

 

A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 3, 2018 from the Burgar Funeral Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
