James Roy Hunter

(September 5, 1952 - October 22, 2018)

 

James Roy Hunter was born September 5, 1952 in Calgary, Alberta. He passed away suddenly on October 22, 2018 at the age of 66 years old.
When he was five years old he was adopted by his aunt and uncle Virginia and Herbert Hunter. He grew up in Camrose, Alberta where he dropped out of high school to move to Ontario and pursue his interest in motorcycles. James later returned to Camrose as an adult and completed his high school education. He completed his bachelor of arts in sociology in 1994 at Augustana, where he served as the President of the Student’s Union. Then he went on to receive his bachelors degree in social work from Grant Macewan. Working for many years as a child welfare investigator and case manager in Camrose, Hobbema and finally in Killam. He had a massive heart and will truly be missed.

 

His wonderful memory remains with his sons Keith (Brandy) Smith, Kenneth (Angela) Hunter, and Kevin Hunter; grand-daughters Kyrie Hunter, and Addie-Jo Smith; nieces Brenda, Marny, Jody, and Laura; nephews Bill, Tracey, and Rob; and many cousins. 
 

James was predeceased by his mother and father Virginia and Herbert Hunter; and sisters Joan Wilson, and Sharon Eklund. 
 

A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 8, 2018 from Messiah Lutheran Church with Rev. Colin Millang officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.
