Agnes Odelia Rittenhouse

(December 6, 1929 - September 3, 2018)

Agnes Odelia Rittenhouse of Camrose, Alberta, formerly of Donalda, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018 at the age of 88 years.

Agnes Odelia Rittenhouse was “Grandma Anna Bennie’s” last baby. She was born on December 6, 1929 on the farm at Heisler, Alberta.

She was predeceased by her mother Anna Bennie; brother George Franson (Mary); brother Dave Franson (Mary); sister Cecilia Liebl (Joe); and sister Nettie Gaffney (Wayne). Left to cherish her memory are her children Ron Bennie (Melody Seto) of Edmonton, and Dennis (Rosemary) Rittenhouse; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She married Merle Rittenhouse on June 18, 1952. Her and Merle raised her two boys - Dennis and Ron in various places all over Alberta.
In the ‘Sixties’ she worked side by side with Merle in the Bulk Fuel Station in Meeting Creek, Alberta. Her home on the farm at Donalda, where she chose to live for over 30 years, wasn’t too far from there.

She and Gordon Rochon worked together on Gordie’s farm where she is convinced that this was the place that kept her in such good shape until she moved into Camrose.
Aggie and Gordie are fondly remembered around Donalda by the community kids as “The place where we get the BIG bag of candy” every time Halloween came around.
Likewise, she will be remembered by her generosity in raising her two boys, Dennis Rittenhouse and Ron Bennie who love her and did their best at reciprocating by looking after her in her old age.

Her two boys were the source of her laughter and big smiles during the last few days that she spent at St. Mary’s Hospital where she maintained that she always loved it when those two got together.

Her famous saying is, “They always make me laugh with their pranks and jokes that they are continually up to whenever they are in the same place!!”
Aggie, thank you for being part of our lives. We are all going to miss you.

A Funeral Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel, (4817 - 51 Avenue Camrose) with Albern Bergstrom officiating.
