Obituary of Robert Tod

TOD , ROBERT SMITH Mr. Robert Tod of Camrose, formerly of Mannville, passed away on Wednesday April 23, 2008 at the age of 79 years. Robert was born to William and Francis Tod in Mannville, Alberta, March 17, 1929. Robert was the oldest of four children and is survived by sisters, Louise and Frances, and one brother, Bill. He was raised on the family farm south of Mannville. Robert married Joan Finaly in 1960 and lived on a farm a short distance from his parents. They had five children: Michael (Joan), Haley (Joel), Alexa (Stuart), Phyllis (Morris) and Phillip (Tara). Robert and Joan raised their children on the farm until they moved to Camrose in 1986. While living in Camrose, Parkinson's disease set in and Robert moved into the Louise Bethany Center in 2004. On the evening of April 23, 2008, Robert peacefully passed away in his sleep. Robert loved to play sports, farmed with a passion, was a card shark, coached and volunteered within the community, enjoyed travel and loved to tease people. His philosophy was always "things always turn out for the best". Robert will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 47 years, Joan Tod, children and especially by his eleven grandchildren: Laura, Ian, Andrea, Alison, Elisha, Eric, Jaden, Brendan, Emily, Kayle, and Sarah. Robert will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends. A Funeral service was held on Saturday April 26 , 2008 at 1:00 pm from the Burgar Memorial Chapel Camrose ,with Rev. Brian Hunter (St. Mary's Hospital Pastoral Care) officiating . Inurnment will follow in the Mannville Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Louise Jensen Center or to the Parkinsons Society or a charity of one's choice.
