Obituary of Kenneth Schneider

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth James Schneider was born February 24, 1935, the second of six children, to Joseph and Mary Schneider. Ken grew up on the farm near Rosalind, attended school, participated in 4-H, enjoyed various sports, and was an active member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Ken married the love of his life, Isabel Feth, on July 11, 1956. God blessed their union with 8 children: Ron (Laura), Carol (Rod) Church, Deanna (Brian) Wilson, Mark (Lori), Brad (Val), Charlene (Ken), Scott (Kathy) Jarrell, Anita (Bill) Heisler. A man of many gifts and talents, Ken quickly adapted to life's little challenges, he conquered the big ones too. From farmer to mechanic, welder, electrician, pipe-fitter, plumber, carpenter, grader and backhoe operator, meat-shop owner ... whatever the job, Ken learned how and got it done. Ken had a tremendous faith. He and Isabel shared their experiences of life and faith with the Engaged Encounter Community touching many lives. He also attended Newman Theological College for a year, deepening his own faith and hoping to be of greater service to the Church. Ken also gave 20 years of service to the Canadian Cancer Society. He loved his days of fishing and camping. In his retirement, Ken assisted in the many endeavors of his children and proudly shared his experiences with all who listened. Ken loved young people! His greatest joy was to see any or all of the grandchildren coming through the door. He always had a hug, a tickle, a tease, or if they were lucky, a whisker rub for each of them. Dad's last and greatest work was showing us how to die with dignity, courage, and final surrender. Ken is survived by his wife Isabel, his 8 children, 28 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren; sisters Joan (John) Stang and Jean (Eldon) Borman, and brother Jerry. He was predeceased by his parents, grandson Thomas, sister Kay, and brother Keith. Prayer Services were held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 7:00pm., from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church. Mass of the Resurection was held on Wednesday, April 23, 2008 at 11:00 am., from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Len Gartner and Rev. Eduardo Escober as celebrants. If friends so desire memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to The Cross Cancer Institute, or S.T.A.R.S.
