Obituary of Allan Jacob Hopfe

Allan Jacob Hopfe of Camrose, Alberta passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, at the age of 90 years.

Allan Jacob Hopfe was born on a farm near Hughenden, the youngest of ten children. The family moved to a farm north of Hardisty which Allan fondly remembered. As a young man, “wheels” were important to him replacing his favorite horse Buddy.

Allan met the love of his life and married Beulah on February 16, 1951. They moved to Camrose to raise their family and pursue his career. Allan became a certified mechanic working for Central Garage specializing in wheel alignments. In 1962 he opened his own service station, Hopfe Service, first with his brother then with his son Brad who worked with him for 24 years. Always a hard working and reliable mechanic, he also turned his hand to mixed farming. This included grain crops, raising cattle, turkeys and chickens while running a successful garage.

Allan and Beulah enjoyed traveling, camping, and spending quality time with family. Family reunions, trips to B.C, the Oregon Coast, Disneyland and to the Maritimes and eastern Canada were highlights in their travels.

Beulah’s much loved husband, our wonderful father, fun loving grandfather and cherished great grandfather, Allan, passed away peacefully at Rosehaven. Our grief is outweighed by our endless wonderful memories, of the twinkle in his eyes, his laughter, his teasing and entertaining stories. Allan can now rest in peace knowing he is loved and always in the hearts of his dear wife Beulah; his children Cheryl (Rick) Davis, Brad (Shiela) Hopfe, Darlene (Don) Stang; ten grandchildren Jeff (Michiko), Mike (Jessica), Kara, Linsey (Jon Beesley), Robin (Greg Prusko), Kaleigh (Matt MacDonald), Kourtnee, Kellsie, Kade, and Kenadie; and ten great grandchildren Parker, Maddox, Toah, Colby, Hayden, Tate, Emmett, Emma, Owen and Pyper. Allan was predeceased by his parents George and Ida and nine siblings, Gordon, Joe, Edna (Lund), Clarence, Archie, Bill, Stan, Florence ( Broughton) and Elna (Reeve).

A Celebration of Life was held at 1:30 pm, Friday, July 27, 2018, from the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Brian Krushel officiating.
