His second love was Marie who had four children, Alan, Mike, Teresa, and Kelly.

Bob also loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he enjoyed spending time with them so much. He also loved his trucks, and enjoyed a good crib game but he hated to lose. He was an Oilers fan through and through.

Left to cherish his memory are his children Kevin (Carol) Vance of Camrose, and Cheryl Vance (Keith Lunn) of Red Deer; step-children Teresa (Ken) Schaub of Edmonton, and Kelly Baird of Red Deer; fourteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; siblings Jim (Elzina) Vance of Dixonville, Gordon (Sharon) Vance of Cochrane, and Mary (Paul) Brisbois of Sundre.
