Marianne McIndoe

(August 10, 1932 - June 29, 2018)

Marianne McIndoe, forever our Baba, was born August10,1932 the first child of William and Lena Wynnychuk in Vegreville, Alberta.

She always described her early years as being ‘happily busy’ on the farm, embraced by her parents and siblings. The family moved to Vernon, BC in 1948, where she attended Vernon High School. A few years later,  Marianne moved to Vancouver, where she found her calling in 1955, selected for her grace and intelligence to be among the first generation of stewardesses for Canadian Pacific Airlines. Two years later, Marianne met Bill, and transferring to Edmonton, they were married in 1960, starting their journey of forty-one years together. In 1962 she was invited to join thefledglingWardair, and became one of the creators their inflight service, renowned for its luxury and glamour. In 1966, after an RCMP transfer to Swan Hills, Marianne’s dreams of motherhood were realized with Kelley’s arrival. In 1969, after another RCMP reassignment to Camrose, Tracey joined her sister, and son Brent’s birth in 1971 made the family complete. Knowing that Camrose was the place that they wanted to raise their family, Bill retired from the RCMP in 1974 to stay and begin to build their forever community, where Marianne embraced family life, devoting herself to raising her children and supporting their so very many extracurricular activities and hobbies. In the community, Marianne was a committed volunteer and a member of various clubs and organizations such as Kinettes, K-39’ers and Eastern Star; she enjoyed social time playing bridge.

As her children became teens, Marianne returned to her legendary customer service throughout the 80’s and 90’s in her own shoe stores. Thrilled with the arrival of grandchildren, Marianne became the best Baba they could ask for: patient and very, very proud. A kind and caring individual, Marianne was a loyal sister and compassionate friend. The world was a better place with her in it.

Marianne departed this life on Friday, June 29,2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital Camrose, Alberta at the age of 85 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill and her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Kelley (Frank) Pabst of Vancouver, Tracey (Guy) of Vancouver, and Brent (Holly) McIndoe of Camrose, with her beloved grandchildren Alexandra, Ethan, Ava, Chloe, Tatjana, Sophia, and Hayden. She is also survived by siblings William Wynnychuk of Lumby, BC, Harry (Margaret) Wynnychuk of New Zealand, Elizabeth MacDonald of Salmon Arm, Angela Bennett of Camrose, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
