Obituary of Arlene Christenson

It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Arlene Christenson on April 22, 2018, at the age of 74.
Arlene spent her life on the Swanson family farm just outside of Camrose. She enjoyed working as a nursing aide in the Camrose Hospital before leaving to become a full-time mother and farmer as well as working part-time with her husband, Darrol, during the tax season.  After leaving the farm, Arlene moved to Camrose and resumed her career in the healthcare field as a home care aide where she stayed until she retired in December 2008.
She was actively involved with the Ohaton United Church and the Ladies Club. She also enjoyed many activities such as curling, golfing, dancing, and camping.


Arlene was predeceased by her son Marlin; her partner of 25 years Melvin Lassesen; her father Henning Swanson; her mother Evelyn (Swanson) Parsons and Arthur Parsons. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister Donna (Dennis) Pedersen; children Carla Gabel (Jerry Horvat), Wendy Baron (Greg Sandau), Wade (Andrea) Christenson; and grandchildren Kiara, Jessica, and Kelsey Gabel, Cole and Dax Baron, and Tia and Zain Christenson.  She will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors,  and family.

A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2018, from the Camrose United Church with Rev. Liz Carter-Morgan officiating. Inurnment has taken place in the Camrose Valleyview Cemetery. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Canadian Cancer Society.
