Obituary of Bruno These

Please share a memory of Bruno to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Bruno These was born December 16, 1921 to Helmut and Matilda, in Falkonnu, Germany. Along with his parents, a sister and two brothers, they immigrated to Hay Lakes at a very young age. Here he attended Canard school achieving a grade eight education. Upon completing his schooling, tragedy struck the These family when his dad passed away as a result of a farming accident. Bruno took control of the family farm until he was called to the army some 5 years later. He spent the next 4 years in Halifax where he hurt his leg and was unable to serve overseas. Upon returning home, Bruno married the love of his life, Doris Ertman in 1951. Among his life's accomplishments - Bruno often boasts of the 57 years of marriage and his 4 children, Gary, Debra, Bill, and Mike. Bruno's passion for farming brought him joy until his dying day. Doris and Bruno spent many an hour going for long drives, and checking out theirs and the neighbour's cattle and horses. Bruno never tired of seeing the combines pulling in to take off the crop. Bruno loved visiting with family and friends where countless hours were spent farming, reminiscing about a good hunt, watching a hockey game, or just plain visiting. Bruno was so proud of his 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandsons. They brought complete joy to his life in so many ways! Bruno had many setbacks in regards to his health but proved his determination and zest for life could overcome almost anything, making it past his 87th birthday! Bruno was predeceased by his parents, one sister, and 2 brothers. He will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife Doris; children: Gary (Jean), Katelyn (Graham), Kade; Debra, Kara (Cory), Braden, Calen; Justin, Elise (Ray); Bill (Tara), Derek (Keriann), Cord, Cole; Michael (Karla), Cody, Jesse; his sister Lydia of Innisfail, and many nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Hay Lakes with Rev. Greg Kjos and Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the St. Mary's Hospital Chapel Fund or Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Hay Lakes.
