Obituary of Gerisine White

Please share a memory of Gerisine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Gerisine Gina Blondheim was born in Bentley, Alberta on the 25th of October, 1934. Shortly thereafter, the family moved to Camrose where she spent her childhood. Geri had a happy childhood, participating in many school activities especially those involving music. Not long after high school, she met and married Norbert Peopping. In 1954 the young couple moved to Cranbrook, B.C. where Norbert was posted by the Royal Bank of Canada. Sadly, in January of 1955, Norbert lost his life, leaving Gerisine a widow just short of one year of marriage. Gerisine returned to Alberta and was employed by the Royal Bank in Camrose, Edmonton and Calgary before moving to Vancouver in 1966. In 1972 she married Gregory White. Following her retirement in 1991, they enjoyed travelling to their weekend home near Bellingham, Washington. Over the next several years, taking cruises became an annual event. Unfortunately, ten years ago, Greg was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. When in 2005 it became obvious that Geri could not properly care for her husband, Greg became a resident of Lynnvalley Care Center in North Vancouver. Gerisine was predeceased by her parents Louis and Lenor, and her brother Louis Jr. She leaves to mourn her husband, along with sister Gwen Lizotte, nephew Christopher Lizotte and his family all of Calgary, brother Lawrence of Camrose and nephew Alan of Toronto. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. Inurnment will take place prior to the service in the Camrose Cemetery. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the St. Mary's Hospital Chapel Fund.
