Mr. Allan Olstad of Kelsey passed away on Monday, January 26, 2009 at the age of 60 years. Allan was born to Leonard and Lois Olstad in Camrose, Alberta on July 1st, 1948. He passed away on January 26th, 2009 at the age of 60 years. Allan lived his life with courage, joy, love, and a deep respect for his family and friends. In 1967, at the age of 18 years, Allan joined the Navy. He completed one tour of duty. Upon returning home he met and married the love of his life, Joan Blades, on December 27th, 1969 and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage. Allan and Joan were blessed with two children: Eric (1972) and Katherine (1973). Allan and Joan moved to Calgary where he pursued training in Electronic Technology at SAIT and began working as a T.V. technician. They soon moved to the Edberg and Kelsey area where they took over the Blades farm. Allan also continued working as an electrician with Kjelland Electric, and in 1993 he began working with Battle River School Division. Allan truly enjoyed being with and spending time with family and friends. Camping, golfing, woodworking, playing cards and pool, as well as spoiling his grandkids were some of his favorite pass times. Allan was predeceased by his mother Lois, father Leonard, brother Ted, sister LaVerne, and brother-in-law George. Left to celebrate his life is his loving wife Joan; his children: Eric (Stacey) Olstad and Katherine Cripps; and his grandchildren: Cayden, Brandon, Carson, and Kailee. Allan is also survived by his brother Michael (Ethel) Olstad; sister Muriel (LeRoy) Rau; brother and sister-in-law Clarence and Brenda Young; sisters-in-law Shirley Hessler and Linda (Vern) Blades; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2009 from the Rosalind Community Hall with Rev. Brian Hunter (St. Mary's Hospital Pastoral Care) officiating. Cremation has taken place.
