Obituary of Ruby Anderson

Passed away January 23, 2009 one month short of her 95th birthday. Ruby was born and raised in Meeting Creek; the second daughter of Fred and Alma Anderson. She spent many years cooking in camps and in her own restaurants. Ruby was a great cook and truly enjoyed it. She also enjoyed her garden and her flowers. In her later years she took much pleasure as the favourite childcare giver for great and great-great nieces and nephews and children of her extended family. Ruby was active in the Vasa Lodge and the Sons of Norway Lodge. She enjoyed bowling and the time spent with her many friends. There was always coffee on and sweets for those who stopped by. Company was always welcome. When her health failed she went into the Bashaw Lodge and then later moved to the Willow Cottage. Ruby was predeceased by her parents Fred and Alma, her brother Bruno Anderson, 2 sisters: Violet Yttri and Karen Anderson, brother-in-law Harold Yttri, 1 nephew Merland Yttri, great-niece Maureen Connor, and nephew-in-law Bernhard Murphy. She is survived by her sister-in-law Bernice Anderson, her nephews Harland (Carol) Yttri, John (Sally-Jo) Anderson: nieces Geraldine Murphy, Ardena Storms, and Heather (Doug) Brown and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews and one great-great-great niece. Ruby will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 3:00 pm from The Burgar Memorial Chapel with Pastor Kristian Wold officiating. Memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Stollery Children's Hospital or the Charity of Ones choice.
