Harvey Louis Germanick

Harvey Louis Germanick

(December 20, 1928 - August 29, 2019)

Harvey was born at Ferintosh December 20, 1928. He passed away suddenly at St. Mary’s Hospital on August 29, 2019 at the age of 90 years.

On July 25, 1951 Harvey married the love of his life, Edna Olson. Four daughters were born to their union. Harvey farmed in the Ferintosh/Edberg district most of his life. He took great pride in his garden and fruit trees, particularly his raspberries. Harvey’s corn would take first place honors in the Ferintosh Flower Show for many years. He loved to grow and share the fruits of his labor, he even grew cucumbers, which he, himself, disliked but knew friends and neighbors would enjoy.

Harvey was very much a people person and enjoyed community involvement being active in multiple civic activities: 4-H as a leader for about 25 years, the Little Beaver High-U Center in Ferintosh and participating in local curling in his younger years. He loved playing card games, especially cribbage with friends and family and would usually win. He really enjoyed his trips “out east” to the casino with his family. Harvey was a kind and gentle person with a great zest for life. He would gently tease many of the people he met as was his fun-loving nature which made him instantly memorable. All the waiters/waitresses, health care workers he met, knew Harvey. Harvey loved watching sports, hockey and rodeo, but more specifically curling and baseball. He was a true Toronto Blue Jays fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Carol (Ryan), Lois (Mark), Diane and Terry (Peter); grandchildren Trevor (Rena), Lisa (Jamie), Anson (Emily), Cody (Abbie), Matthew (Taylor), Mitchell, William (Jackie), Shannon (Travis); and great-grandchildren Taylor, Claire, Hudson, Harrison, Sutton, Xavier, Ethan, Aurora, Katarina and Lily.
Harvey was predeceased by his wife Edna, brother Andrew, sister Joyce Costar and his parents Bill and Hazel Germanick.

Harvey was loved by many and will be missed by all. He was the quintessential good man who lived a great life.

A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m., Monday September 9, 2019 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel. Interment has taken place in the Camrose Cemetery.

If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions in Harvey's memory may be made to STARS, or to the Cross Cancer Institute.
